Obituary of Wanda Sue Smith

Wanda Sue Smith, age 59, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, on Thursday, October 26, 2017, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Donny Custer officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.

Wanda was born in Ardmore, Okla., on June 4, 1958, to Wondo Mitchell II and Anita Sue (Balthrop) Mitchell. She attended and graduated from Plainview High School with the Class of 1976. In her youth, she liked riding motorcycles. Wanda took a position with the Ardmore Veteran’s Center as a Cook for many years until 2005 when her health forced her into an early retirement. She was a WWE Wrestling fan and always enjoyed being outside and working with her farm animals. Wanda was a person with a big heart, a caregiver through and through, and loved caring for her mother and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wondo II and Anita Mitchell, and brother, Randy Lynn Mitchell.

Wanda is survived by her son, Chad William Mitchell and wife Crystal, and daughter Kristi Lynn Rowley, all of Ardmore. Four grandchildren: Ethan Rowley, Hunter Rowley, Abbigail Rowley, all of of Ardmore, and Nevaeh Mitchell of Stratford, Okla.  Brother, Wondo Mitchell III and wife, Rita of Ardmore. Numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, October 25, 2017, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
