Obituary of Paul E. Martin

Paul E. Martin passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 4, 2016, in The Chapel at Griffin~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Peterson officiating. The family will have a private committal at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, Okla. Paul was born on October 17, 1927 to John Martin and Maggie (Anderson) Martin at Clinton, Okla. Paul was an electrician for the most of his working life. Leaving home early as people did at that time to help care for this family. Paul enlisted in the United States Army in October 24, 1945 and served as a Military Policeman till his Honorable Discharge in August of 1948. Paul was married to Ozie at Clinton, Okla. and from that marriage came his daughter Patti and son Michael. He and Ozie lived in Clinton and then for a time in Oklahoma City. He took a job at Shawver Electric as an Electrician. After the passing of Ozie he moved to Edmond, Okla., while working on a job for Shawver in Ardmore he met LaFreda Ann (McKenzie) Carroll and she and Paul married in May 23 of 1990 in Arkansas. In his retirement he worked for Ardmore City schools in electrical maintenance and retired in 2010. They loved going to craft shows and he enjoyed working on his tractor. Paul is preceded in death by his Parents, his two wives; Ozie Martin and LaFreda Ann Martin, son, Michael Wade Martin, and one brother Johnny Martin. He is survived by his, daughter, Patti Mershon and husband Wilbur of Tulsa., granddaughters, Carrie Mershon and Jillian Smith, grandson Paul Winston Martin and great-grandchildren, Tevin Mershon, Nick Mershon and Emma Smith. step-sons; Bryan Carroll and wife, Pam, and Mark Carroll and wife, Lois. Step-grandchildren; Major Michael Carroll retired, Adam Carroll, Sargent Clint Carroll, and Ross Carroll. Eight step-great-grandchildren. One sister Wanda Moore of Clinton, Okla.
