Bill Mullenix 88, passed away Tuesday September 26, 2017 in Ardmore. He passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness. Services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Asbury Methodist Church in Ardmore, Okla., with Reverend Randal Richards officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. 

 

He was born October 20, 1928 in Fletcher, Okla. to Glenn and Ida (Austin) Mullenix.

Bill graduated from Fletcher High School in 1946 and worked at the local newspaper, The Fletcher Herald through high school. He met and married Pat on August 20, 1949 in Fletcher, Ok. Bill began working at the newspaper, the Konowa Leader, in Konowa, Okla. then moved to Ardmore, Okla. where he worked as a Production Manager for the Daily Ardmoreite. He retired in 1991 after 42 years of service.

 

Bill and Pat were married for 68 years. During their marriage, they enjoyed traveling and supporting their children and grand children in their many school activities. Bill’s favorite hobbies were watching sports, especially watching the Oklahoma Sooners and New York Yankees, working outdoors and gardening.

 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, multiple brothers and sisters and daughter, Connie Richards.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife of the home, Patsy Mullenix; two sons, Donald and wife Shellie Mullenix of Valliant and Jackie Mullenix of Ardmore; son-in-law Randal and wife Deni Richards of Ardmore; sister Darlene Clinkenbeard of El Reno; Grandchildren Mike and wife Christy McCullers of Ardmore; Jennifer and husband Brian Jay of Tuttle; Erin Moyers of Reno, NV; Taylor Dickson of Martinez, CA; Katherine Dorman of Ft. Scott, KS; Bailey and husband Derek Black of Blanchard; Meagan and husband Marcus Neal of Tahlequah; Meredith and Ethan Collvins of Broken Bow; Mason Mullenix of Valliant and 16 great grandchildren.

 

Pall Bearers will be grandsons Mike McCullers, Brian Jay, Derek Black, Mason Mullenix, Marcus Neal and Ethan Collvins.

 

The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at Cross Timbers Hospice for their help and support during Bill’s illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Cross Timbers Hospice of Ardmore, OK.
