Obituary of Mamie Oleta Shockley

Mamie Oleta Shockley, age 79, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, July 17, 2017, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with The Reverend Steven Wall officiating. Interment to follow in Provence Cemetery.

 

Mamie was born on October 3, 1937, to Luther Wilkins and Anna (Sewell) Wilkins, in Ardmore, Okla. She attended and graduated from Dickson High School. She married Leonard “Dusty” Shockley in 1951. Mamie worked at Cooks Laundry and then later for The Marietta Pants Factory for many years. Working in her yard was one of the things that brought her great pride and she has won many awards for the decoration of her home. Anytime someone wanted to go anywhere she would be right there ready to go. She was a member at Mary Niblack Baptist Church and now has her membership at the Ardmore Indian Baptist Church for the past two years.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Judy Clough, brothers, Gary Wilkins and Jimmy Wilkins, three sisters, Pat Greenwood, Joyce Bruce, and, Maxine Stevens, grandson, Mark Cryer, and one granddaughter, Shannon Clough

 

Mamie is survived by her daughters, Wanda DeBord of the home and Hope Shockley of Durant, Okla. Four grandchildren: Dee DeBord, Matthew Elmore, Shelly Blanton and husband Harry, and Jamie Frasier, eleven great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Roger Wilkins and wife Carla.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Wilkins, Dale Wilkins, Dee DeBord, Dee Wilkins, Brandon Herndon and Mickey Hill. Honorary bearers; Harry Blanton, Michael Collins, Ronnie Clough, Phillip Criswell, and Shawn Walker.

 

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, July 16, 2017, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
