Obituary of Ronald Darrel Sampson

Ronald Darrel Sampson passed away at the age of 56 on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Oklahoma City, Okla. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 23, 2017, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home. Pastor Jordan Sampson to officiate. Cremation under the care of Griffin ~ Hillcrest Crematory of Ardmore.

 

Darrel was born on April 1, 1961, in Ardmore, Okla. He graduated from Dickson High School in 1979 and went on to attend East Central University.  After college, he went to work for Blue Bonnet Feed. Darrel always enjoyed art and he was talented at drawing. He played softball with his family on the Ardmore Buc’s team for many years. He was a fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Nathan Thompson, Jr, mother, Shirley Thompson, brother, Terry Thompson, and aunt, Sarah Sampson.

 

Darrel is survived by his four children: Amber Burch and husband, Dustin, Kelly Sampson, Damon Sampson, and Elizabeth Sampson. Seven grandchildren, girlfriend, Cecilie Pretorius, two brothers: Lawyer Bob and Kendall Thompson, and three sisters: Vickie Harris and husband, Joel, Colleen Dobbs and husband, David and Mary Lou Thomas. Special Aunts; Shirley Dean Sampson, JoAnn McMillan, Uncle Ronald Sampson and wife Fernie, special uncle, Edwin Thompson and special cousins, Bonnie Davis and Sereana Willman.

 

Serving as honorary bearers will be members of the Ardmore Buc’s Softball Team.
