Obituary of Joyce Marie (Wilkins) Bruce

Joyce Marie (Wilkins) Bruce, age 77, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017, in Ardmore, Okla., surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 5, 2017 in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest with Pastor David Colaw officiating. Interment to follow in Provence Cemetery.

Joyce was born on June 4, 1939, in Ardmore Okla., to Luther Wilkins and Anna (Sewell) Wilkins. She attended Dickson Schools.  Joyce married Edward Hill in 1957 in Ardmore, Okla. From this marriage came five children. She worked at the Paints Factory in Marietta and later working for Cooks Laundry. She will be remembered for her meticulous housekeeping. Joyce loved driving around the county, taking in the scenery and the changes as they would appear in the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Eddie Ray Hill, two brothers: Jimmy Wilkins and Gary Wilkins, and two sisters: Maxine Stevens and Pat Greenwood.

Joyce is survived by her four children: son James Hill wife, Connie, of Gene Autry, Mickey Hill and wife, Julie, of Ardmore, son, Brian Hill of Ardmore, and Marshelia Edwards of Choctaw, Okla. 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Brother, Roger Wilkins and sister, Mamie Shockley, both of Ardmore.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Bean, Johnathon Dickson, Travis Putman, Dustin Putman, Eddie Hill, Jimmy Foster and Christopher Hill.

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, May 4, 2017, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
