Delbert J McGuire, age 95, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at The Chapel in Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Alton Fannin officiating. Private interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore. Delbert was born on April 14, 1928, at Meeker, Oklahoma, to John McGuire and Alice McGuire. In his earlier years he enjoyed being a cowboy: roping and riding. He retired from Warren Petroleum as a Processing Operator after more than 30 years of service. Delbert worked at the Mocane, Okla. location, in Beaver County, and at the Sherman, Texas, location. He also raised and trained quarter horses. He was called to serve his country in Korea in November of 1950 and received his honorable discharge in August of 1952 and returned home. Delbert married Juanita Caudle on May 15, 1959, in Madill, Okla. In his later years, he and Juanita took up music. He played the fiddle or violin, playing for nursing homes and senior activities. He also liked to play at bluegrass festivals. He was a member of First Baptist Church and played in the orchestra which he enjoyed a lot. Delbert will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandpa and friend but most important a child of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Juanita, three brothers, Bill, Bob, and Jim, son, Delbert “Deb” McGuire, step-son, Hugh Clower, Jr., step-daughter, Joyce Higgins, grandson, Michael Howard, and granddaughter, Aarin Whitney McGuire. He is survived by son, Thomas McGuire and wife, Cheryll, of Trinidad, Texas, daughter, Robyn Pyles and husband, Ronnie, of Lone Grove, Okla., step-son, Jimmie Clower, and wife, Cheryl, of Beaver, Okla., seven grandchildren: Cyndy Howard Montoya, Beaver, Okla., Shauna Howard Nichols, Beaver, Okla., Joe Clower, Caddo, Okla., Ravonna Clower Collard, Azle, Texas, Rachel McGuire Patterson, Midlothian, Texas, John McGuire, Arlington, Texas, and Darren Pyles, Overbrook, Okla., ten great-grandchildren: Cheyenne, Guthrie, Hadley, Casey, Rylie, Collin, Caden, Brooklyn, Jase, and Quinn, and six great-great-grandchildren: Ian, Jordan, YaLena, Gabriel, Paden, and Paisley. Sister, Joyce McGuire Bradley and husband, Clifford, of Rockwall, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. A visitation will be held from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest. Donations may be made in Delbert’s name to The American Heart Association at 401 NW 63rd Street # 510, Oklahoma City, OK 73116 and Cross Timbers Hospice at 207 C St NW, Ardmore, OK 73401.
