Obituary of Oniva Louise Hambrick

Oniva Louise Hambrick, age 95, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 10, 2023, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park of Ardmore. Oniva was born on July 22, 1927, to James Monroe Pilgrim and Clifford (Lollis) Pilgrim, in Simpson, Okla., in Marshall County, Okla. Oniva was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who prayed diligently for her family and all those she loved. She married Alfred Ray Hambrick in 1943 and together raised five children. A strong work ethic was fundamental to her. Oniva worked at Marietta Sports Factory for 35 years and then took care of her grandchildren and many who still call her “Mama” today. Oniva was a woman of faith and attended First Baptist Church in Ardmore. Her faith was an integral part of her life and she cherished the Word of God and sharing the Good News with all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Wesley Hambrick, three brothers: Sid Pack, Olden Pilgrim, and Olten Pilgrim, three sisters: Lela Hambrick, Dovie Phillips, and Burney Savage, father of her children, Alfred Ray Hambrick, son-in-law, Pervis Wayne Miller, and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Barsanti and Jeremy Barsanti. Oniva is survived by a son, Wendyl Hambrick and wife, Janice, Marble Falls, Texas, daughters: Winona Miller, Kingsland, Texas, Weletta Behrens and husband, Gary, Punta Gorda, Florida, Wynema Vernon and husband, Alan, Ardmore. Seven grandchildren: Darrin Hambrick, Dalana Barsanti and husband, Randy, Darby Hambrick and wife, Lisa, Kristi Miller, Brett Behrens and wife, Beth, Brittany Gulley and husband, Clinton, Blair Hambrick, Brayson Hambrick, Dr. Allyson Black and husband, Jeremy, eight great-grandchildren: Austin Hambrick, Trenton Hambrick, Taylor Barsanti, Collin Barsanti, Harrison Barsanti, Riley Barsanti, Brielle Gulley, and Beckam Gulley, and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Patricia Jones for being a caring friend to our mother. Those serving as pallbearers will be her grandson and great-grandson.
