Obituary of Elsie (James) Taylor

Elsie (James) Taylor, age 84, passed away on September 10, 2017, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Durwood Baptist Church with Pastor Vincent Baptiste officiating. Interment to follow at Durwood Cemetery, Carter County, Okla.

Elsie was born on November 1, 1932, to Harbor James and Sally (Tom) James, in Ravia, Okla. She was raised in the Ravia and Durwood area. Elsie was a life-long member of the Durwood Baptist Church. She was very involved in church activities and taught Sunday School. She married Otis H. Taylor on August 2, 1955. Elsie loved to speak with her friends in Chickasaw. She loved creating beautiful homemade quilts and giving them to friends and family members as gifts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Taylor, her parents, Sally (Tom) James and Harbor James, two sisters, Amelia Campos and Hannah Johnson, two nieces, Minnie and Jean Stapleton, and nephew, Randy Baptiste.

Elsie is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews. Two nieces, Betty Baptiste and Linda Dean, and Six nephews: Charlie Lewis, Gary Brown, Arnold Lewis, Dillan Lewis, Simon Johnson, and Isaac Johnson. 

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm, on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Griffin~Hillcrest.
