Alta (McLaughlin) Greenslade, age 88, passed away on January 22, 2025, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 27, 2025, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Collin Phaup officiating. Services will conclude in the chapel. Private interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Alta was born in Lubec, ME, on January 18, 1937, to James McLaughlin and Georgie (Thompson) McLaughlin. She attended and graduated from Lubec Schools with the Class of 1955 as Salutatorian. She moved to Bangor, ME, where she attended Beauty College and married the love of her life Author “Art” Greenslade, on July 21, 1956, in Lubec, Maine. The couple followed Art’s career and traveled extensively throughout the world. They loved to dance any chance they got. In 2002, they moved to Ardmore, Okla. to be close to their family, where she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 61 years, Author Greenslade, son-in-laws, Charles “Buffalo” Perry, and Carl Guess, brother, Lee McLaughlin, and sisters, Ruth Kennedy and Jean Woodruff. Alta is survived by her four daughters, Sherrill Perry, Diane Pfarr and husband, Mike, Cynthia Guess, and Laurie Stroud and husband, Chris, Twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
