Patricia “Patty” (Proctor) Downing, age 74, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Oklahoma City, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 21, 2024, at First Methodist Church of Ardmore with interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore. Services under the direction of Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home.

Patty was born on June 9, 1950, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Bill L. and Constance (Taylor) Proctor. The family moved to Ardmore, Okla., where she graduated from Ardmore High School with the Class of 1968. She attended college in Gainesville, Texas, to became a nurse. Patty graduated and became a Licensed Practical Nurse or LPN. She began working at Ardmore Day Surgery and Mercy Hospital, working in the Surgery, OB/GYN, and Pediatric Departments. Patty married Tom Downing in 1982 at the Ardmore First United Methodist Church. She followed Tom’s career as a teacher and coach and they lived where it took them. They both took jobs with Wynnewood Schools and she worked as a Librarian and School Nurse. After Tom’s passing in 1998, she devoted her life to the care of their daughter, Becky. She was an animal lover and would do anything to get a lost animal back to their family. She was instrumental in running the Facebook Page for Ardmore’s “Lost, Found, or Stolen in Carter & Love County Oklahoma.”

Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, in 1998, her parents, and sister, Barbara Proctor.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Friend and her husband, Rocky, granddaughter, Taylor Friend, and grandson, Owen Friend, all of Edmond, Okla. Brothers: Bill and his wife, Lois Proctor of Ardmore, and Steve Proctor, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, June 20, 2024, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home
