Obituary of Kenneth Baptiste

Kenneth Baptiste, age 79, passed away on April 18, 2020, in Ardmore. Private graveside services were held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 23, 2020, at McAlister Cemetery with the Rev. Steven Wall officiating. Kenneth was born on March 1, 1941, to Dolph Fill Baptiste and Lula (Marris) Baptiste, in Ardmore, Okla. He attended Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas and Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Okla., where he received technical training and certification in television and electronics. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1961 and received an honorable discharge in 1967, but continued his military for 6 years in the reserve. He worked for Alascom installing telephone poles and was promoted to a Communication Tech. Kenneth moved back to Ardmore, Okla., in 2010. His passion was teaching the Choctaw language and the culture in Alaska and he continued to teach in Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dolph Baptiste, Jr. Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Angie Conn, son, Arch Baptiste, grandsons, Nathan Conn, Noah Conn, and Mason Blankenship, all of Anchorage, AK.
