Mary Allen passed away peacefully Thursday, May 28, 2026, surrounded by her sons and caregivers. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.
Mary was the eldest of 2 daughters born to Roy V. Evans and Alice Schlinke Evans in 1930 in Hugo, Oklahoma.
Mary began her love of music by singing in her church choir, school choir and playing the drums with the Hugo High School band where she graduated in 1948.
She met and married Earl O. Allen in 1950. They met during an ice storm while attending Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant.
Mary and Earl moved to Ardmore in 1951 and became active members of the First Methodist Church.
Mary joined the Sanctuary Choir in 1975 and sang and played handbells for 45 years.
Mary and Earl had 3 children; Susan Fox of Tampa, FL, Mike Allen who recently moved to Ardmore and Mark Allen of Carrollton, TX. They also had 2 grandchildren; Courtney Fox and Daisy Fox Herz of Tampa, FL.
Mary was a lifelong Methodist and was 96 years young.
As a 2-time cancer survivor, Mary lived longer than anyone in her family.
Mary loved gardening, attending musical events and being a devoted choir member. Mary kept her 1950’s hair style her entire life…..at times it was difficult when she traveled to find a hairdresser who could keep up her unique hair style.
In spite of losing her own mother at a very young age, Mary developed her caring and positive outlook on life when she took over the motherly role in her home at the age of 15.
Earl preceded Mary in death in Jan 2005.
Memorials may be made to the Music Ministry at First Methodist Church/Ardmore in lieu of flowers.
