Imogene Laverne (Kirby) Groomer, age 96, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and love on Friday, February 13, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at CrystalRock Cathedral in Ardmore, Okla., with Dr. Walt Spradling officiating. Interment is to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.

Imogene was born on August 23, 1929, in Comanche, Okla., to John and Stella Kirby. She was a devoted wife, mother, and “Mama”. Imogene and Bob Groomer were married on August 27, 1949. Imogene graduated from Plainview High School in 1946 (as did all her children in future years). She worked briefly at Kress Store in her early years, but mainly focused as a homemaker for her family. Imogene and Bob always attended all of their children’s school and sports activities.

While living in the country with barns, streams, and family all around, Imogene could be found giving her children bacon so they could go “crawdad” fishing in the old pond. She also tended to her mom daily when she was badly burned in a fire in her kitchen.

She was a charter member of CrystalRock Cathedral, formerly known as Pleasant Hill and Northwest Assembly of God and stood faithfully by her husband at the many church functions---especially when her husband was taking all his vacation hours from work to help build CrystalRock Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Groomer, her parents John and Stella Kirby, her sisters Anna Smith, Thelma Kirby and Pauline Wilson, her brothers Louis and Doris Kirby, son Bobby Gene Groomer, daughters-in-law Sharon Groomer and Vicki Groomer, granddaughter Dannette Groomer, and grandson Kraig Hodge.

Imogene is survived by her daughter, Karen Hodge, and son, Danny Groomer. She adored her grandchildren: Kevin and Cory Hodge, Tara Teal, Crystal Day, and Robert Groomer and nine great-grandchildren: Blake, Kadence, Katheryne, Georgia, Jaxon, Skylar, Scott, Kaylee, and Destiny.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Hodge, Cory Hodge, Robert Groomer, Blake Teal, Scott Smith Jr., and Tommy Tucker.

Visitation will be held on Monday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, February 16, 2026, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore.
