Pamela Sue Bates, age 72, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, January 16, 2026, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Norton officiating. Interment to follow in Mannsville Cemetery.

Sue was born on June 2, 1953, to Robert Edwin Hunt and Joyce Ann (Behrens) Hunt in Ardmore, Okla. She was a graduate of Ardmore Schools and SOTC in food services with the class of 1971. Sue has always worked, starting at sixteen, she worked for Carroll’s Drive Inn and then for the Cookie Shop. Sue married Dalbert Bates on July 22, 1973, in Gainesville, TX. She then started her career working at Baldwin’s and worked for over 30 plus years, always serving people with a big smile. Sue retired in 2021.

Sue worked at the VFW and American Legion working the door for BINGO, which was one of her passions. She enjoyed sewing and made personal items and quilts for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Edwin Hunt and Joyce Ann (Behrens) Brewer, sons, Tony Hunt, and Lyn Bates, brothers, Raymond Brewer and Freddie Bearden, sisters; Reba Pitts Rueda, Elizabeth McGahey, and Carol Steudeman.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Terra Cryer, and husband Danny, seven grandchildren; Ericka Cryer, Krickett Sanders, Vincent Rhodes, Antoine Bates, Shiann Bates, Kyah Bates, and Tristan Bates, three great-grandchildren; Jolie Sanders, Joanna Sanders and Journii Lyn Feagins. Sisters: Sharon Bates and husband and Rick, Mahota Martin and Gayla Loyd.

Pallbearers will be Robert Phillips Sr., Robert Phillips Jr., Jody Tayloer, John Key, and Baily Hildebrand. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tripp Sanders and Jeramy Mucombers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, January 15, 2026, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore.
