James McMillan, age 79, passed away on November 10, 2025, in Ardmore, Okla.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 13, 2025, in the Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Turner officiating. Services will end in the chapel.

James was born on June 23, 1946, in Ardmore, Okla. He is the son of James Calvin “JC” McMillan and Sheila (Powell) McMillan and Willene (Brown) Nichols and David Nichols. James received his support from his grandad, George McMillan and grandmother, Ethal (Studeman) McMillan, they were a vital part of his life. He attended Greenville Schools and enlisted into the United States Navy on January 19, 1965. He achieved the rank of EN3 as a 625- Engine Mechanic, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal while serving in Vietnam. James served three tours then received an Honorable Discharge on January 18, 1971. After the Navy he returned to Ardmore, Okla., where he began his 37- year career in the Long-Haul Trucking Industry and later took a position with Carter County as a truck driver until his retirement.

James enjoyed working on and restoring cars, drag racing, riding motorcycles, and boating. He was an accomplished musician and played the guitar. He loved visiting with his family about life, cooking for them and spending time in his garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Brandi Salyer, great-grandson, Kason York, brother, Earl McMillan, and sister, Patricia McMillan.

James is survived by his daughters, Laurna Castleberry and Meagan Thompson, two granddaughters; Jessica Ingle and Livi Hobbs, three great-grandchildren; Abby Salyer, Addison Salyer, and Danica Dixon. Sister, Joyce Turner, brothers, A.J. McMillan, and Danny McMillan, special friend, Wanda Smith and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, November 12, 2025, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore.
