David Lynn McClendon, age 78, passed away on November 7, 2025, in Denton, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:30am, Friday, November 14, 2025, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest, Eulogist will be Randy Roy and Pastor Donny Custar officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.

David was born on December 6, 1946, to Troy C. McClendon and Irene McClendon in Ardmore, Okla. He attended Ardmore Schools and graduated with The Class of 1962. David enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country, achieving the rank of Airman Third Class. He received his honorable discharge on April 7, 1969.

David met Sharon Davis who he married on June 6, 1970 in Ardmore, Okla. and from the union came Christopher Shane McClendon, Erica Lee Werth, and Christi Rani McClendon. Utilizing the GI Bill, he started his higher education at Murray State College. David had various jobs throughout his life until he became an Owner/Operator as a contractor in the trucking industry. His trucking career came to an end on January 20, 2021.

David retired in Marietta, Oklahoma, where he chose to reflect on his life and dedicate time working on his 22 acres, adding Joe Robert Panels for his horse, and riding his steel horse motorcycle. When not at the house, he could be found on Lake Murry H dock with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son, Christopher Shane McClendon.

David is survived by his daughter, Christi Acox and husband, Bryan, of Marietta, Erica Werth and husband, Steve of De Kalb, Texas, stepdaughter, Carrie Edwards and husband, Kenny of Ardmore, six grandchildren: Damien, Jaycee, Jernye, Gracye, Gavin, and Hannah, one step grandson, Bryr, and ten great-grandchildren. Three brothers; Allan McClendon and wife, Janiel of Tuttle, Okla., Ricky McClendon and wife, Nancy of Lantana, TX. and Dennis McClendon and wife, Paula of Greenville, South Carolina. Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be: Bryan Acox, Damien McClendon, Bryr Acox, Rick Dickson, Conardo Steffani and Tracy Hunter.
