Bruce Alan Shannon, age 63, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Okla. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church with interment to follow in Jehovah Cemetery, Milo, Okla.
Bruce was born in Ardmore, Okla., on March 1, 1962, to Wade Shannon and Kathryn (Wright) Shannon. He excepted Christ at an early age at St Paul Baptist in Milo, Okla. He attended and graduated from Graham High School with The Class of 1980. He achieved the highest point score in the State of Oklahoma for basketball. After high school, he attended Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, Okla., on a basketball scholarship. Bruce was the manager of Portillos, worked at the Dollar General Warehouse and at Coleman Car Lot working in car sales. He was a talented carpenter. Bruce retired due to his declining health. Later moving his church membership to Frist Baptist Church of Tishomingo, Okla. Every chance he could, he would play basketball. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Dennis Swindall, David Swindall, Ricky Shannon, and Wade Shannon Jr., sister, Lawanna Swindall, and brother-in-law, Vincent Stephens.
Bruce is survived by his son, Bruce Alan Shannon, Jr, daughters, Alice Knight-Kolling and husband Scott, Candice Figures, and Brittany Willis. bonus children; Kashauna Drain, Juan Willis, and Jamontra Willis. Ten grandchildren and Two great-grandchild. Sisters: Ruby Patton and husband, Archie, Sharon Shannon-Stephens, Kathy Shannon-Swindall, Vivian Williams, Karen K. Shannon, Donnise Bradshaw, and Nita Fowlks, and brothers: Ricky Swindall, Ronnie Shannon, and Mitchell Shannon.
Serving as pallbearers will be Trea Stevenson, Tay Swindall, Carl West, Isaiah Bailey, Jason Swindall, Treyon Grant, Jordan Bryant, Carlos Smith, Bradley Lewis, Derek Allen, Antonio Drain, Daliouse Figures, and Shalamar Buycks.
Honorary bearers are Clavin Shannon, William Wright, Donald Murray, Melvin Mims, Sonny Abram, and Paul Knight.
Flower girls will be Kashauna Drain, Vanessa Owens, Diana Halstied, Ahlyra Anderson, Shanell Swindall, Latisha Hamilton, Carolyn Lee, Deleigha Stevenson and Kamille McGee.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, July 11, 2025, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore.
