Obituary of Terrell “Sputz” Scott Thompson

Terrell “Sputz” Scott Thompson, former resident of Ardmore, died on March 14, 2025, at his home in Midwest City at the age of 63. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 21, 2025, in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Terry was born on May 15, 1961, in Ponca City to Earl Ray and Meredith Ann (Young) Thompson. He spent most of his life in the Ardmore area and attended Lone Grove schools.
A talented musician and vocalist, Terry sang and played drums in a number of bands throughout his life. He toured nationally with Sidewinder and played gigs with well known acts like Merle Haggard and Keith Whitley. He was a member of Southbound, Xpo, Trace, Telea Haven, Sidewinder, Epidural, and Jam Wagon. He will be best remembered in southern Oklahoma for his contributions to Arbuckle Express (Xpress) in the 1990’s.
Terry spent more than 10 years working for the City of Ardmore in the Street Department. He was most recently working for Paul Wilson. Over his last few years of life, he put a renewed focus on his music and spending time with family. He is remembered by many for his caring friendship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Robert Johnston, former wife Wanetta (Wells) Thompson, and nephew Jason Thompson.
Terry is survived by his children, Keely (Thompson) Greger and husband Tim of Sand Springs; Brendan Thompson of Ardmore; Tara (Mason) Harris and husband Daniel of Tulsa; grandchildren Elliott and Isaac Greger of Sand Springs and Devan and Archer Harris of Tulsa; brother, Anthony Thompson of the home; sister Susan Moore and husband Mike of Colorado; stepmother Teresa Thompson of Colorado; best friend, Rick Lewis of Ardmore, and numerous other family and friends.
