Obituary of Velma Lou Taylor Zamarron

Velma Lou Taylor Zamarron, age 88, passed away on March 17, 2025, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, March 20, 2025, in the chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home. Cremation with care to follow at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Crematory. Velma was born on December 19, 1936, to Richard Taylor and Rody (Lewis) Taylor in Marshall County, Okla. She attended the Durwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed listening to Choctaw hymns and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Amos Taylor, Morris Taylor and Odis Taylor. Sisters, Etta Taylor, Mattie Taylor, Dorothy Burris, and Helen Taylor and son, Richard Austin and special nephew, Bobby Taylor Velma is survived by her daughter Jane Austin of Polson, MT, Arlene Austin of Ardmore, OK, Rita Robles and husband Arthur of Lindsay, OK, son Leroy Taylor of Ardmore, OK, Lloyd Austin Jr and wife Jennifer of Abilene, TX. Special granddaughter, Marisa Zamarron of the home and special friend Doniece Pitts. 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, March 19, 2025, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore.
