
Obituary of William "Bill" McClanahan

William “Bill” McClanahan, devoted husband, loving father, beloved brother, favorite uncle, the most wonderful Papa, and a great friend to all, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the age of 77 in Ardmore, Okla. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 7, 2025, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Seaman First Class Billy Turner Ardmore Veterans Cemetery. Cremation with care under the direction of Hillcrest Crematory.
Bill was born in Healdton, Okla., on July 25, 1947, to Newton Joy McClanahan and Wanda Mary (Morgan) McClanahan. He attended Healdton High School, where he was active in football, basketball, and was the President for the Student Council during his senior year of 1965. He enlisted in The United States Air Force, serving from 1966 to 1970, he served at Tinker AFB, Okla., Taiwan, and Vietnam. In 1979, he married the love of his life, Juli. They made their home in Moore, Okla., then moved to Healdton in 1986 to own and operate “Mac’s Texaco”. He later retired, in Ardmore, from Best Buy as Inventory Control in 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Bill, his sister Stevie, and daughter-in-law Gera.
His most prized accomplishment in life was that of his family. Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Juli McClanahan and their puppy Oliver of Ardmore, Okla. Daughter, Tracy and husband Jim Wiley of Ardmore. Sons: Brad and wife Misty McClanahan of Spanaway, Washington, and Ryan McClanahan of Yukon, Okla., 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Sisters: Joyce “Shorty” West, Port La Vaca, Texas, JR and husband Doug Polzien of Ardmore, Robert McClanahan of Ardmore, and Nofle “Sonny” and wife Pam McClanahan of Fort Collins, Colorado.
His family would like to express their gratitude for professionalism, care, and compassion provided by staff of Good Shepherd Hospice and the Ardmore Veteran’s Center.
