Obituary of Donna Grace Roy

Donna Grace Roy, age 75, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with interment to follow in Provence Cemetery, Carter County, Okla. Pastor Danial Stevens and Pastor Patricia Bell will be officiating. Donna was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on March 7, 1949, to Tom Welch and Bonnie (Cherry) Welch. She attended Broken Arrow Schools. After graduation, Donna went to work for the US JC’s in Tulsa, Okla. She married Ronnie Roy on October 24, 1969, at Broken Arrow, Okla. and moved to Ardmore, Okla. They then moved the family to Oakland, Okla. where she took a position with Sooner Oil Company for three years but chose to be a stay-at-home Mom to care for her children. In 1990, Donna went to work for Murray State where her last job was in the Academic Advisor office, at the same time, she taught Psychology at Ardmore Higher Education from May 2002 until May of 2012, as well as night classes. Donna retired in 2015 from Murray State. In her retirement, Donna enjoyed cooking for her church functions and caring for her grandchildren. She was a member of Abundant life Cathedral where she was devoted to her church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ronnie Welch, infant son, Tommy Roy, and husband, Ronny Roy. Donna is survived by her two sons: Randy Roy and wife, Amie, of Ardmore and Kristopher Roy and wife, Danielle, of Lawrence, Kansas, six grandchildren: Autumn, Taylor, Katelyn, Abbigail, Addison, and Caden. Six great-grandchildren: Chandler, Tacen, Stella, Teddy, Kinley, and Lane. Brother, Chuck Welch and sister, Kathy Welch, all of Broken Arrow, Okla. Pallbearers will be Caden Roy, Taylor Roy, Justin Roberts, Jason Roberts, Austin Roberts, Chance Pearce, and Eric Davis. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, February 24, 2025, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Griffin~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
