Obituary of Painey Elizabeth Marris Shoemaker

Painey Elizabeth Marris Shoemaker, age 77, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest. Private interment services will be held at a later date.

Elizabeth was born on September 11, 1939, to Mart Lee Marris and Annie (Tom) Marris at Leon, Okla. She married Erie Shoemaker on October 9, 1957, at Ardmore, Okla. Elizabeth worked at Carter Seminary as a teacher’s aide and as a home health companion. She attended church at Ardmore Indian Baptist Church and was a former member of Northeast Baptist Church of Ardmore. Elizabeth enjoyed being with her family, traveling to revivals and church singings. She loved children and enjoyed being a Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Erie Shoemaker, brothers: Mart Lee Marris, Jr., and Patrick Henry Marris, and sister, Millie (Marris) Palmer.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Patricia Darlene Shoemaker, of Ardmore. Brother, Edwyn Austin Marris of Irving, Texas. Niece, Tricia Ann Marris of Norman, Okla. and nephews: Christopher Lee Marris and Edwyn Denny Marris, both of Irving, Texas. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Lee Marris, Edwyn Denny Marris, Jonathon Higginbotham, Jonathan Higginbotham, Jr., Luis Alvarez, and Luis Alvarez, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Monday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, May 1, 2017, at Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
