Obituary of Danny Byrd Sampson, Jr.

Danny Byrd “Fat” Sampson, Jr., 50 age, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 21, 2017, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Pastor Scott Battice officiating. Interment to follow in Nelda Cemetery. Danny was born on February 13, 1967, to Danny Sampson and Phyllis (Ned) Sampson at Ardmore, Okla. He attended Dickson High School and receiving his GED in 1987. He worked at Priddy’s as a sous-chef and then at Holiday Inn as the houseman. Danny was the family babysitter, he loved and cared for each of his nieces and nephews as his own. He was an avid OU football and basketball fan. He enjoyed watching the games with his brother. Danny was baptized at Ardmore Indian Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Sampson, brother, Timothy Marris, and sister, Cathy Manning. Danny is survived by his father, Danny Sampson, Sr.; three sisters: Marqurita James, of Ardmore, Okla., Deanna Sampson, of Ardmore, Okla., and Chasity Christie and husband, Tony, of Madill, Okla.; brother, Ronnie Sampson and wife, Terrie, of Ardmore, Okla.; aunt, Mary Ned, of Ardmore, Okla.; and four uncles: Larry Ned of Ardmore, Okla., Calvin Ned, and wife, Rhonda, of Mannsville, Okla., Harold Ned and wife, Irma, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Curtis Ned of Ardmore, Okla. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm, February 20, 2017, at Griffin~ Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla. Serving as pallbearers will be Bradley James, Christopher Sampson, Jalen Sampson, Michael Ned, Kenny Ned, and Chad Henry. Honorary bearers will be Greg Sampson, Dusty Sampson, Frank Ned, Kevin Ned, Lance Taylor, Robert Ingram Jr., and Derek Christie, Condolences may be left at www.griffinhillcrest.com.
